The Colditz Challenge Trophy has been around since 1975, being named after the Castle in East Germany that held Allied prisoners of war during 1939 – 45 and was featured in a popular TV series.
For many years it was the trophy for the Countywide game, which was held at various venues. In 2001 the trophy has been brought back in to service as the prize for winning the night exercise section of the Colditz Challenge weekend.
The back of the trophy is signed by Major Pat Reid who was a prisoner in Colditz during the second world war; he also presented the trophy to the first time winners who were the 30th Brighton. Major Reid also presented each of the winning team members with a signed copy of his book “Escape from Colditz”
